St. John's Clinic Force for Good Raises $60,000 for
Developmental Center of the Ozarks and The Child Advocacy
Center
St. John’s Clinic physicians and co-workers presented checks
totaling $60,000 to the Developmental Center of the Ozarks
and the Child Advocacy Center on Aug. 3 in the main lobby of
the hospital’s new patient tower. The donation came at the
conclusion of the Clinic’s semi-annual Force for Good
campaign, this one called “Stand Up for Kids.”

Coventry Health Care To
Acquire Mercy Health Plans
Coventry Health Care, Inc., (Coventry) has signed a
definitive agreement with the Sisters of Mercy Health
System (Mercy) to acquire ownership of Mercy Health
Plans (MHP), a health insurance subsidiary with
approximately 180,000 enrolled members in Missouri and
Arkansas. The sale of MHP to Coventry is expected to be
completed within the next 90 to 120 days, pending
regulatory approvals.

A school teacher
and a hospital unit nurse gave St. John’s Medical Research
Institute Medical Director Dr. Roger Huckfeldt the idea for
Hands First, a new alcohol free hand sanitizer developed by
the Institute’s team of scientists. The product was released
nationwide following a launch event at Millwood Golf &
Racquet Club in Springfield, Mo. Aug. 23
